A journey into every new unknown of motherhood.

Lots of things to update, but fortune has passed a little cash our way; hence, we now have the SpongeBob Squarepants movie soundtrack. Veronica is dancing like mad to it and loves it. I just had to mention that.

More later, just wanted y'all to know I'm still alive and such.

Awwww....

I'm melting. Yesterday I picked up Veronica from Debbie's, and when we got home, I went to get her out of her car seat and said "I love you, Veronica." And she said "I wuv Mommy."

(melts)

First time she's ever said it, to my knowledge. She said it kind of absent-mindedly, but who cares? She said it! That's all that matters to me now.

In the meantime, I was afraid to post recently because, due to the financial crunch of our household at the moment, we have downgraded from cable to dial-up, albeit high-speed dial-up. This is driving me nuts; it's not as bad as regular dial-up used to be, but I've been spoiled for so long with cable at home and DSL or the like at work. I almost thought that posting wouldn't work, until I reminded myself that, duh, I was on regular dial-up when I first started blogging. Hell, I was on regular dial-up when I started THIS blog.

Also on the chopping block are the cable TV and the cell phone. Jason hooked up an antenna, so we now get five stations in their fuzzy glory, but the cell phone - I never even used it that much, and I'm going through serious withdrawal. The TV isn't much better; we've exhausted our DVD collection to the point where we bought a couple inexpensive ones tonight just to have something to watch. (Another SpongeBob collection for Veronica, as I'm way sick of the two SpongeBob DVDs she already has, and "Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars," which we somehow missed when it was a mini-series and now can't watch on Sci-Fi anyhow should they rerun it because, of course, we don't have Sci-Fi anymore.)

I need to get some sleep. Here's hoping my lazy internet can post this before morning, and that our finances get into shape before too long. This really kinda sucks.

At 2 a.m. this morning, Veronica woke up and started whining "Daddy....Daaaadddd-deeeee". So Jason got up to see what she needed. He asked if she wanted some water and she said yeah. So he got her a sippy of water and went back to bed. Both went back to sleep. (Me, I never woke up.)

Then at 5:16 this morning, Veronica called for Jason again. He groggily made his way to her room, wondering what it was she could possibly want. She was lying on her belly whining. He figured her water cup was empty, so he went to check it. She jerked it away. Then she switched hands, held out the cup, and said "here, daddy." As soon as he took it, she put her head back down and started making her fake snoring sounds. That was all she wanted, for him to take the cup away.

Jason came back to bed and told a semi-conscious me this tale. "It was the cutest thing ever," he said. And that's why I'm sharing it with you all right now. :-)

Today we went to the art museum. Veronica seemed to very much enjoy it, although Jason was pretty bummed to see only one Warhol in the current exhibit. Veronica's favorite artwork by far was a statue by Rodin called The Age of Bronze; as it was on a pedestal, Jason picked her up to look at it and she wouldn't let him walk away without a fuss. She was enthralled (although it being a nude, she did point out to Jason "dere his butt!") She was equally enthralled, however, with the gravel in the scuplture garden, picking it up and letting it fall through her fingers. Toddlers, who knows what will catch their eye?

(There was another thing that cracked us up. In the "Monet to Matisse" exhibit, there was a sketch of a dog that was pretty avant-garde. Veronica insisted it was a cow with more conviction than I've ever heard from her before. It DOES look more like a cow, I wish I would've gotten the name of the piece and the artist so I could've linked to it as well. I think I was laughing too hard to catch it.)

Well, time to give my kid a bath and hope she goes to bed sometime tonight. :-P And I have two job interviews tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Oh good lord, how could I forget THIS:

Funny: Veronica sticking pieces of cat food kibble up her nose.

Even funnier: When she sneezed them all out a few minutes later.

Not so funny: The time between the two actions, when Mommy and Daddy were trying like hell to remove the kitty kibble from her left nostril.

WTF, I mean, seriously.
The latest:

We attended the Columbus Arts Festival today. It was very hot, very crowded, and better for watching people than observing art. Veronica seems to enjoy glasswares and watercolors, but not nearly as much as she enjoys observing the geese and turtles in the smelly Olentangy River, or every little piece of garbage she saw on the ground.

I updated my photo page. Click here to see the new album, or just go to the right and click on "My online photo album," then go to "May 21, 2005". It's just a few shots my folks took when we went to WV a couple weekends ago, and since Jason and I still have 5 rolls of film of our own that aren't developed, I figured it was better than nothing.

Oh, and we're toying with the idea of moving to Tucson. Yeah, as in, Arizona. Long story and probably won't happen, but of all the times we've talked about moving to another city, I'd say this is the most serious.

Tomorrow we have tentative plans to hang out with a couple friends and hit the art museum. They have an exhibit visiting from Pittsburgh with some Warhols that Jason's dying to see. Here's hoping everything goes well. Later, folks.
