A frog is an animal that hops. It says, "ribbit ribbit."

So according to Veronica logic, as a bunny is an animal that hops, it says...

....

....

"rabbit rabbit."

I'm totally not making this up. And yes, I lose it about every time I hear it.

Veronica has started coloring inside the lines! At 3 and a half! Hell, I didn't even get this skill down until...um, probably about a year ago. ;-)

So, so proud of her.

A month has passed, almost, since the last post, and within this time frame Veronica has a couple more interesting moments:

A few nights ago I was trying to get her to go to bed, and she was insisting I leave the lamp on the nightstand turned on. I refused. "Your body will get confused and think it's daylight, and you won't go to sleep."

"But I want the light on!" she whined.

"Look, if you want, I'll leave the hall light on and leave the door open a little bit, OK?"

She looked at me quite earnestly, pointed out to the hall, and asked,

"But why isn't that light like daylight?"

What I answered with was, "Because it's not as bright" but what I was thinking was "Don't confuse me with your logic, dammit! How are you coming up with that, you're not even three and a half!"

More puzzling was her reaction when playing with my father over the weekend. My mom had unearthed a few odds n' ends toys and mementos of mine, including a maraca (couldn't get to the other one) I got who knows where and a small sombrero I got at Chi Chi's on my 19th birthday. Dad shook the maraca, and Veronica danced and sang "cha cha cha." I think Dad taught her that, but I know he was shocked - and frankly, so was I - when he stopped playing and she took off her hat with a flourish, held it in front of her, and took a bow. Where did she learn THAT?!

But watch what you say around her. Her teacher's name is Miss Beth, and while she was playing with a couple toys, one larger than the other, she casually said, "This one the mommy. This one the baby. Miss Beth want a baby but she don't have one yet." Hmmmm...I wonder if Miss Beth's boyfriend is aware of this....I guarantee that however this came up in conversation originally, Miss Beth had no clue that Veronica was paying attention. He he he...

Hopefully a shorter update sooner. It's hard to cram one month's worth of goodies into one 15-minute break.
