Maranie = Mommy

A journey into every new unknown of motherhood.

Veronica is very good at stalling for bedtime, but a couple nights ago, she was honestly trying to get some sleep when she got the hiccups. Frustrated, she called me upstairs and asked me to make them stop. I gave her a cup of water and then, when that effort naturally proved fruitless, I racked my brain trying to think of how to get a three-year-old to relax and get rid of this problem, or at least get her mind off of it. And as I did so, Veronica came up with her own solution. I heard this:

"Hiccups, hiccups, go away.
Come again another day.
Veronica wants to go to bed...
Mommy? Why are you laughing?"

Because I couldn't stop for anything at that moment, that's why.
