Better late than never to mention that Veronica turned 4 on April 28. Wow. I cannot believe how fast she is growing up.

Her birthday celebration started out with her opening presents at our place with Jason present. Then we all went to Red Robin for lunch and to eat her cake, a beautiful confection made by my friend Michael from work. The day was capped off by a trip to the zoo, where we got to see an unfortunate Canada goose who landed in the tiger exhibit (the food chain was demonstrated right before our eyes - yeesh) and where poor Veronica was a little too scared to ride a carousel horse (she sat on a bench) or to feed the lorakeets (Jason and I fed them while she watched). But all in all, it was a very good birthday. (Photos to follow.)

She now thinks she is still three because it is not her birthday anymore. I'm having a heck of a time convincing her otherwise.

So happy birthday, Veronica. You're still my favorite person in the world, and every year I cannot believe how much you've grown up.
